The Pottery Maker

Amy Taylor, Ceramic Artist

I am a New Smyrna Beach resident and ceramic artist.  I have lived in Volusia County since 2000 after moving here from Tampa.  Ceramics came later in my life after time spent teaching, and then raising our daughters full time.  Once my children became teenagers, I was able to explore my lifelong interest in ceramics at Daytona State.  It only took one semester to realize I wanted to make pottery every day.  As I became more comfortable with my abilities, and everyone in my family had "enough" bowls and dishes, I set up shop at the New Smyrna Beach Farmers Market in 2017, which is where you can find me every Saturday from 7am - 12:30pm.  Besides attending our local farmers market, I've participated in local art and community events like Coastal Christmas and Art Fiesta.  You can also find selections of my pieces in The Galley Oil & Vinegar Shop on Canal.  The focus for my pieces is to be both pleasing to the eye and functional for daily use.  Letting the clay create its own edge, adding bohemian flare, and embellishing with hints of beach living are what I enjoy most.  I believe in creating local, supporting local, and staying local.
